_I have graduated from the Physics Department of the University of Athens, Hellas. I was accepted directly for Ph.D. at
the Jodrell Bank Observatory (the radio astronomy department) of the
University of Manchester, UK with a 3-year research fellowship (fees only)
from PPARC (Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council).
I have worked as a postdoc for ten years in the UK ()Jodrell Bank Observatory), Portugal (Observatorio Astronomico de Lisboa, Facukdade Ciencias da Universidade de Lisboa), and the USA (Naval Research Laboratory, for a short period) and at the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the National Observatory of Athens. My research interests include cosmic magnetic fields, multi-wavelength study of active galactic nuclei, Pulsars, FRBs, Radio-SETI, generation, acceleration and propagation of cosmic rays, cosmic rays and human repercussions, the Sun, Gamma-ray bursts.
I am the chief Radio Astronomer and Co-PI of the Hellenic Radio Telescope THERMOpYlae. |
